Chloe Ferro & Olivia Ferro present SheMed's new PMOS screening kit for the first time.

SheMed has always existed to close the gap in women's healthcare. That mission has always included metabolic health, weight loss was where we started, but metabolic health covers far more than that, including insulin resistance, hormonal imbalance, and PMOS (formerly PCOS), all of which affect women's bodies in ways that are still poorly understood and inconsistently treated.

This isn't a departure from what SheMed does. It's a clearer description of it. Weight management, PMOS support, and blood screening all sit inside the same picture: how a woman's metabolism actually works, and what happens when the healthcare system doesn't take the time to find out.

‍

A Name Change That Reflects the Real Condition

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome has recently been renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, or PMOS. The new name reflects something the old one didn't: this is a whole-body hormonal and metabolic condition, not simply a fertility issue. An estimated 1 in 8 UK women are affected by PMOS, according to Verity, the UK's PMOS charity, and many go undiagnosed for years.

‍

Why This Matters to Olivia

For our co-founder and CEO, Olivia Ferro, this expansion is personal. Olivia has lived with PMOS (formerly PCOS), and has written about her own experience with the condition and with GLP-1 treatment.

That lived experience is a large part of why SheMed is building dedicated PMOS support rather than treating it as an afterthought to weight loss.

Introducing the SheMed PMOS Screening Kit

Introducing SheMed's new PMOS Screening Kit

‍

The new PMOS Screening Kit gives women a clearer, at-home starting point for understanding what's happening with their hormones and metabolism, rather than waiting months for a GP referral or being told their symptoms are unrelated.

Discovery is based on having two out of three recognised criteria:

1. Ovulatory Dysfunction - Irregular, infrequent, or absent periods.

2. Hyperandrogenism - Clinical signs like excess hair/acne, or raised androgen levels.

3. Ovarian Morphology - Ultrasound for polycystic ovaries, or AMH testing in adults.

‍

What SheMed’s new service means in practice:

  • A structured, at-home starting point instead of generic advice. Covers up to 19 health markers such as HbA1c, ALT, AST, AMH, SHBG, TSH, FSH, testosterone & total cholesterol
  • Clinical oversight from SheMed's existing prescribing and clinical team
  • A pathway that connects to treatment for chronic care management in metabolic health and symptom support associated with PMOS

‍

Part of a Bigger Picture

This isn't SheMed's first step into deeper health screening. Members already have access to an at-home blood collection kit that screens four key areas that can influence health and weight, all from home. It uses a needle-free device rather than a finger prick, and every result is reviewed personally by SheMed's clinical team. The kit is included at no extra cost for members on Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Wegovy pill.

The PMOS Screening Kit builds on that same idea: giving women a dedicated way to understand their hormones and metabolism, not just their weight.

‍

Start Understanding Your PMOS Symptoms

If you've been living with symptoms that don't quite add up (such as low energy, bloating, brain fog or hair thinning or acne), or you've had a PMOS diagnosis without much explanation of what it means for your body, this is where to start. Your PMOS screening kit includes free next-day delivery.
