It’s still important to review your PMOS over time, even if your diagnosis was made years ago. Symptoms and health risks can change with age, treatment and life stage.
Managing symptoms is not only about how you feel day to day. For example, very infrequent or absent periods may increase the risk of thickening of the womb lining and, over time, endometrial cancer, so protecting the womb lining can be an important part of care.
PMOS is also associated with a higher risk of metabolic and cardiovascular problems, including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and changes in cholesterol. Regular review can help identify these risks early and support appropriate treatment or monitoring.
A health assessment can provide an up-to-date picture of your symptoms, cycle and wider health, and help determine whether any changes to treatment or ongoing support are needed.
