The Wegovy pill starts from £69 per month at SheMed, and like our injection plans, the price includes clinical support, your blood test, and side effects care. You can view our full pill pricing here.
Not yet. The Wegovy pill has received MHRA approval, but NHS availability requires a separate NICE technology appraisal, which typically takes 6 –12 months after licensing. Realistically, NHS access is unlikely before 2027 at the earliest. If you'd like to start now, the pill is available privately through SheMed from £69/month.
Yes, in principle - both contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide. However, switching isn't a direct dose-for-dose swap, and a new clinical assessment is required to determine your starting oral dose. Your SheMed clinical team can support you through this. Get in touch via the Help Centre if you'd like to explore switching.
Your at-home blood test gives us the full picture of your health so we can tailor your treatment for the best possible results. It also tracks meaningful improvements over time in blood sugar, heart health, and metabolism — not just the number on the scale. With follow-up tests at 6 and 12 months, you'll see exactly how your health is changing. In fact, 99% of our members start with at least one marker outside the optimal range, and most see real improvements within 6 months. Find out more
We make it as easy as possible — no clinic visits, no needles, and no finger pricks. We use a no-needle blood collection method that you complete at home in minutes. Your kit is included in your plan and everything you need is provided, as well as step by step guidance from our team if you need it.
Your blood test screens for key health markers including blood sugar (HbA1c), pre-diabetes, cholesterol, liver health, and kidney function. It's a comprehensive at-home health check that's included in your plan.
Yes - the blood test requirement is the same regardless of whether you start on the pill or an injection. It gives our clinicians the full picture of your health before prescribing, and tracks meaningful improvements over time in blood sugar, heart health, and metabolism. It's included in your plan either way.
GLP-1 is a natural hormone your body already produces — it helps regulate hunger, fullness, and blood sugar. GLP-1 medications like Mounjaro and Wegovy work by mimicking this hormone, helping you feel satisfied with less food. Learn more
Both are GLP-1 medications used for weight loss, but they work slightly differently. Wegovy contains semaglutide and targets one hormone, while Mounjaro contains tirzepatide and targets two. Both are effective options — the right choice often comes down to how your body responds, personal preference, and budget. Learn More

If you're starting on the Wegovy pill, the dosing schedule is different to the injection. You'll begin on 1.5mg and escalate every 30 days, up to a 25mg maintenance dose. Each step lasts approximately 30 days to give your body time to adjust."
If you're starting on the Wegovy pill, you won’t receive your order until after 1st July. From 1st July your tablets are dispatched the same day if ordered before 12pm on a weekday, following the same clinical review process. Most members receive their pill within a few days of completing their assessment.
You'll be asked to do a quick weekly check-in through the app — this can be a live video call or a simple self check-in where you log your own details. Every 28 days you'll also complete a short refill questionnaire so our team can track your progress and make sure your treatment is still right for you. It only takes a few minutes and keeps your journey on track.
Both contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide, and work the same way - reducing appetite and helping you feel full. The main difference is how they're absorbed. The injection goes directly into the bloodstream; the pill takes a different route through the stomach, which means the dosing works differently. The results are broadly similar. Learn more
The pill has a simple but strict morning routine. Take it first on an empty stomach, with a small amount of plain still water, then wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything else. That's it - but skipping any part of this does reduce how well it works. If your morning doesn't allow for the full window, just skip that day and pick back up the next morning.
Like the injection, you start on a low dose and build up gradually over several months, giving your body time to adjust. Your SheMed clinical team manages your dose progression - if a step feels too much, it's completely fine to stay where you are a little longer before moving up.
The results are comparable, though the injection does have a slight edge - particularly at higher doses. The pill's results also depend more heavily on how consistently the morning routine is followed. If you'd like a detailed comparison, we've broken it all down here.
The most common are nausea, vomiting, and constipation - mostly in the early weeks or after a dose increase. They tend to ease off as your body adjusts. Nausea and vomiting are slightly more common with the pill than the injection, mainly because of the fasting requirement. If you experience severe or persistent symptoms, contact your prescriber. Yes, but with one thing to keep in mind. If you vomit shortly after taking your contraceptive pill, it may not have absorbed properly - follow the standard missed pill guidance in that situation. If you take oral progestogen as part of HRT, speak to your GP about whether a non-oral form might suit you better. Make sure you mention all medications during your clinical assessment.
Not if you time them carefully. Both need an empty stomach, so they can't be taken together. Your SheMed clinical team can help you work out a morning routine that fits both in comfortably - just flag it during your assessment.
As the medication leaves your system, appetite gradually returns and some weight regain is common - this is normal biology, not a sign anything went wrong. There is now robust evidence that continuing GLP-1 therapy after weight loss is essential to prevent rebound weight gain and to preserve the broader cardiometabolic benefits achieved during the active treatment phase. If you're thinking about stopping, speak to your SheMed clinical team first so they can help you plan the best way forward.
